I would have replied hours ago in praise your link but I have been reading it since then!

This is some informative and entertaining stuff.

Summary: The materials in your house won't stop anything but the weakest of bullets (.22lr and small bird shot) from penetrating. Pistols and especially rifles will go right through everything in your house (including metal doors) many times over. If you are going to built castle-like defenses around your home, use at least 6" of sand for the walls. This was the only thing tested that would stop hand guns and rifles without absurd thickness.

ROTFLMAO, wish all the 308 worshipers on this forum would take a look at that website compareing real life penetration of a full metal jacketed 7.62x51 to an old all lead 45 caliber buffalo load against a barrier of sheetrock water wood bricks and then wood called "The Box Of Truth". It was just exactly what they were trying to teach you in that movie "Quigley Down Under". Mass matters!

Also, so much for thinking safety slugs will stop in sheetrock. His test on glazer penetrated 5 or 6 layers of sheetrock. They may be good home defense rounds for other reasons, but not because they won't kill someone unintended after penetrating the first impediment.

Though they did penetrate the least.
